Fundamentals Program
Since there are so many things that we do in CrossFit it is hard to get a grasp on them in a short period of time. A common criticism of people that try CrossFit is that they feel like they are “not ready” to take on some of the things that we do. Our fundamentals program is designed to expose and teach you as much of what we do as possible so that when you go to your first class you won’t feel lost or intimidated. When coming up with the curriculum for our fundamentals sessions we decided that six sessions would give new members a good understanding of what is going on, as well as get you used to the intensity of your typical CrossFit workout.
Fundamentals sessions will be started every two weeks, with classes meeting on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 7am and 6pm. Classes build off of the previous ones so we strongly encourage starting on the first session and completing all 6. Your instructor will teach you the day’s movements and end with a short WOD (Workout Of the Day) that uses some of the movements that you just learned. Each class will have a different theme so you will get more of an understanding of all the different types of training CrossFit pulls from. For example one day will be an Olympic lifting day, one day will be a gymnastics day, one day will be an endurance day, and so on.
One of the best things about CrossFit is that it is universally scale-able to everyone’s abilities/needs. Part of the fundamentals program is to not only introduce you to movements like pullups, snatches, and handstand pushups, but to also show you how to scale these movements so you are still able to perform them and progress to the full movements.
